There are three different types of volcanoes. These are described below.
1. Quite broad and gently sloping. This has been made by quite fluid lava flows.
- Cinder Cones
These are steep sided, 250 to 350, and are made of fragments that have erupted out of the volcano. The fragments have settled and formed a cinder cone. Most cones are small at approximately 100m across, however, they can get to be very large.
These are made of thick lava and layers of lava. The slopes are mainly gentle to medium but can become steep near the summit. They are larger than cinder cones but smaller than shield volcanoes.
