Geology How Earthquakes Occur Word Find

Introduction
Earthquakes occur within the Earth’s crust. They are caused by sudden movements in the crust. The movement is caused by enormous pressure being released due to faults in the crust suddenly giving. The movement causes seismic (shock) waves to move out through the surrounding country, which can cause damage if sufficiently large enough. Other events can occur such as avalanches and tsunamis. The Richter scale is used to measure the size of an earthquake. This is measured on a seismometer.
